The Civil War has been something of an enigma
for scholars studying American history. During the first
half of the twentieth century, historians viewed the war
as a major turning point in American economic
history.
It is therefore noteworthy when such an
individual begins publicly arguing that a sectarian civil
war in Iraq would be to the strategic advantage of US
imperialism. One can conclude that similar views are
prevalent in Washington’s corridors of power.
Remarkably, most of the murders were carried out
in only the first six months of the civil war. Probably
half of all clergy were, within a week of the uprising,
protected in areas controlled by the Nationalists. If
that threshold is increased to an average of 1,000 people
killed per year, there have still been over 90 civil wars
since 1945. Indeed, even the conservative estimate of
60,000 deaths would make Iraq the ninth-deadliest civil
war since 1945 in terms of annual casualties.
The Department of Defense is war-gaming a civil
war, he told reporters. What would a civil war in Iraq
look like?
The first electric cars hit the scene way back
in the early 1830s, 30 years before the Civil War (for
the record, they're also older than the Eiffel Tower,
Joan Rivers and sliced bread).
In fact, the electric car was actually the first
popularized car. Civil War materials are on pages 59-100.
This work contains a good analysis of each item.
Engagement with Khartoum may be the only way to avert
another civil war in Sudan, and even that may not be
enough.
Casualty numbers in all battles of the Civil War
were unprecedented in the history of United States
military. The goal of this horrible goal was focused
around the Emancipation Proclamation set by President
Abraham Lincoln in 1861, which ended the practice of the
southern states owning slaves.
Perhaps the most important determiner of a civil
war is the purpose for which violence is perpetrated. As
the Chinese revolutionary Mao Zedong wrote, "Without a
political goal, guerrilla warfare must fail, as it must
if its political objectives do not coincide with the
aspirations of the people and their sympathy,
cooperation, and assistance cannot be gained."[14] It
makes little sense to describe the situation in Iraq as a
civil war if the combatants do not have clear political
agendas. Buy memorabilia from the Civil War years using
local and national resources.
